A cost effective wireless internet connection for distributed water meters

Lampertheim, 03. Februar 2009 Centralised monitoring system in combination with the EMERIS Radio System

deZem GmbH (www.dezem.de) are now offering a system for connecting widely distributed water meters in a single monitoring system, based on technology from Elster Messtechnik GmbH. This flexible and robust system integrates Elster's established, bi-directional 868Mhz communication protocol into deZem's GPRS modems and industry PCs. The system's central server can configure and control radio systems and individual pulse meters worldwide. These can transmit data using other radio modules, through a method called multihopping. The batteries of the radio modules can last for up to ten years, when used cautiously. For the first time, the system can track data at a higher rate for a short time, in order to increase energy efficiency, and then return to lower radio activity.
